I work closely with teachers to develop creative, inspiring workshops for students. I work with a number of schools to design and deliver art projects to fit within the curriculum or to celebrate particular events.
I have a Post Compulsory PGCE (graded outstanding) and am an Artsmark Gold Partner.
Recent workshops included working on creative Viking projects where children also contributed to the design of the school’s own St Alphege millennium window. Infants worked with charcoal, chalk and acrylic to produce drawings, from which I designed two sandblasted and etched glass windows celebrating the story of St. Alphege.
I also worked with children in another school on the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Using basic colour theory to create images from the students’ imagination, these were then translated into batik panels depicting the story.
Gallery and museum visits
I incorporated a visit to The Turner Contemporary Gallery with an infant school and ran water-colour sessions in the Clore Learning Studio with groups of 40 infants to enhance their gallery experience of the Turner exhibition.
A number of school workshops are already scheduled for this year and will incorporate visits to exhibitions at the British Museum.
